Responsive and Responsible Government in Action

February 05, 2010

By Lydia Garcia

The Town of Taos Planning and Zoning Commission voted (February 3) to allow the zoning change for planned facility for the Taos Soil & Water Conservation. Three of the ten acres will receive a C-1 conditional zoning that will provide a water well to service the three acres.

The remaining seven acres will be also be listed as C-1 in a recordable document that specifies upon development of the entire 10 acre parcel will require the owner/developer to provide a connection to Town of Taos water sources and detach the well the serving the three acres.

Case No. ZC2009-20 originally sought to change the zoning from R-A (rural agriculture) to M-1 (light manufacturing) but concern for the nearby residential community opened up an opportunity for the planning & zoning commission to seek a compromise benefiting all parties. (See Taos Daily Notes from the Planning & Zoning Commission Meeting, December 03, 2009).
